This 20-day expedition plunges you into the remote and visually striking world of Ethiopia’s Surma (Suri) people and the wider Omo Valley tribal heartland. Designed for photographers, filmmakers, and cultural documentarians, this immersive route blends authentic tribal encounters, dramatic landscapes, and community-led experiences.
You’ll witness body painting, scarification, lip plates, village life, markets, cattle ceremonies, and traditional rituals rarely seen by outsiders while living among the people you’re documenting.
The journey spans highland forests, savannas, river valleys, and isolated tribal lands with extended stays for deep engagement and optimal light for photography. Most nights are spent in comfortable lodges or trusted camps, with mobile tented bases in tribal areas for authentic immersion and flexible shooting schedules.
