Bale Mountains National Park is one of Ethiopia’s most spectacular wilderness areas, famed for its Afro‑alpine landscapes, volcano‑shaped peaks, high moorlands, deep valleys, and rare wildlife such as the Ethiopian wolf and Mountain nyala.

Day 1 :
Fly to Bale Mountains – Dinsh

Begin with a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Robe (Bale Mountains Airport). Upon arrival, transfer to Dinsho Park Headquarters, the main gateway to Bale Mountains National Park.
After a short coffee and tea break, enjoy an introductory hike around the park headquarters. This area is rich in wildlife, where you may encounter Menelik's bushbuck, mountain nyala, warthog, reedbuck, grey duiker, and baboons. Birdlife includes Ethiopian endemics such as the Abyssinian flycatcher, wattled ibis, and Abyssinian catbird, found in the surrounding juniper forests.

Day 2 :
Trek from Dinsho to Habera Campsite

After breakfast, begin trekking toward Habera Campsite (approximately 18 km). The trail passes through the breathtaking Web Valley, leading to the scenic Fincha Habera Waterfall, where the Web and Wolla rivers converge.
This region is one of the best places to spot the endemic Ethiopian wolf, along with rock hyrax, raptors, and endemic birds such as the blue-winged goose. The untouched wilderness of Bale Mountains truly comes alive here.

Day 3 :
Trek from Habera to Wassema

Continue trekking through beautiful high-altitude landscapes toward Wassema. The route passes through Mararo Valley, a known nesting area for lammergeyers and Verreaux's eagles. With luck, you may also encounter the elusive Ethiopian wolf and several highland bird species.

Distance: 18 km
Overnight: Wassema Campsite
Altitude: 3,900 m
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4 :
Trek to Sanetti Plateau

Today's trek takes you to the legendary Sanetti Plateau, the highest plateau in Africa. Passing through Wassema and descending briefly into Worgona Valley, you'll enjoy panoramic views and excellent wildlife sightings, including falcons, raptors, and possibly the Ethiopian wolf.
The route crosses dramatic Afro-alpine moorlands, dotted with alpine lakes and unique vegetation. This is one of the most scenic trekking days of the trip.

Overnight: Sanetti Campsite
Altitude: 4,100 m
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 :
Drive to Harenna Forest

After breakfast, meet the vehicle and drive toward the southern slopes of the Bale Mountains to the lush Harenna Forest, Ethiopia's second-largest tropical rainforest.
Along the way, watch for wildlife such as the Ethiopian wolf, Abyssinian hare, and water birds including ruddy shelduck, blue-winged goose, and wattled crane. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided walk through bamboo trails and forest paths to waterfalls. The forest is home to the endemic Bale monkey and a wide variety of bird species.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 :
End of Tour – Departure

After breakfast, drive back to Robe Airport for your return flight to Addis Ababa.
