Led by a professional birding guide, the tour combines excellent bird diversity, scenic landscapes, and comfortable overnight stays near prime birding locations.

Itinerary

Day 1 :
Arrival in Addis Ababa

Arrival at Bole International Airport

  • Transfer to hotel and tour briefing

Day 2 :
Addis Ababa – Debre Libanos & Jemma Valley
  • Drive north to Debre Libanos Monastery
  • Birding in the Jemma River Gorge, famous for raptors

Bird Highlights: Lammergeier, Rüppell's Vulture, White-billed Starling (endemic)

Overnight: Lodge or hotel near Debre Libanos

Day 3 :
Debre Libanos – Ankober Escarpment

Full-day birding along the Ankober Escarpment

Bird Highlights: Ankober Serin (endemic), Ethiopian Siskin, Abyssinian Catbird

Overnight: Guesthouse or eco-lodge in Ankober

Day 4 :
Ankober – Awash National Park
  • Scenic drive to Awash National Park
  • Afternoon birding along the Awash River

Overnight: Safari lodge inside or near Awash National Park

Day 5 :
Awash National Park

Full-day birding in savanna, riverine forest, and volcanic landscapes

Day 6 :
Awash – Rift Valley Lakes (Ziway & Langano)
  • Drive to the Ethiopian Rift Valley

Day 7 :
Rift Valley Lakes – Abijatta–Shalla National Park

Overnight: Lodge near Lake Langano

Day 8 :
Rift Valley – Bale Mountains National Park
  • Scenic drive south to Bale Mountains
  • Evening birding around Dinsho headquarters

Overnight: Mountain lodge in Dinsho (Bale Mountains)

Day 9 :
Bale Mountains – Gaysay Grasslands & Web Valley

Birding in grasslands and juniper forest

Bird Highlights: Blue-winged Goose (endemic), Spot-breasted Lapwing
Overnight: Mountain lodge in Dinsho

Day 10 :
Bale Mountains – Sanetti Plateau

High-altitude birding on the Sanetti Plateau (4,000 m+)

Bird Highlights: Moorland Francolin (endemic), Alpine Chat, Wattled Ibis
Overnight: Mountain lodge in Dinsho

Day 11 :
Bale Mountains – Wondo Genet
  • Descend to lush forest ecosystems
  • Afternoon forest birding

Overnight: Forest lodge in Wondo Genet

Day 12 :
Wondo Genet – Lake Hawassa
  • Morning birding in forest areas

Day 13 :
Hawassa – Addis Ababa
